Metro Exodus Writer Addresses Epic Games Store Exclusivity, Apologizes to Fans

Dmitry Glukhovsky says he trusts the publisher "for the correctness of this situation".

Metro Exodus

4A Games’ Metro Exodus has been hyped strongly ever since its reveal at E3 2017. Given the developer’s reputation and how great the previous titles were, every teaser since then seemed to indicate another memorable experience. Unfortunately, the hype has been soured somewhat due to the PC version becoming a timed exclusive for the Epic Games Store a few weeks before release.

This is after it was available for pre-order on Steam, though said pre-orders will still be honoured. Metro series author and Metro Exodus writer Dmitry Glukhovsky would go on to talk about the move on social media, but one deleted comment painted him as being against it. This was later clarified, and now, Glukhovsky has gone ahead and released an official video statement on Facebook with his thoughts.

“I’m very sorry about those of you who wanted it and expected it to release on Steam and who were misled by the move by the publisher,” he said. “I understand that the publisher fully and uniquely financed the developer of these games, so I trust them for the correctness of this solution.”

Glukhovsy then adds that everyone is “Very sorry that you’re hurt. We just hope that you will not betray us, just as we’re staying always faithful to you, bringing the uncompromised story and uncompromised quality of experience.”

Metro Exodus is out on February 15th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A recent cinematic trailer called “Artyom’s Nightmare” was released to indicate the nightmarish journey that players are in store for.
