Resident Evil 8’s Recent Leak Is From A Scrapped Build, Is Not the Final Game, As Per Insider

Apparently, the newest details are coming from a build of the game prior to its development was rebooted.

There’s been a surprising amount of new on Resident Evil 8 of late, especially considering that the Resident Evil 3 remake isn’t even out yet, but leaks from insiders and other sources have brought some interesting details about the game to light. Just earlier today, a bunch of new details from the game got leaked, allegedly emerging from play tests that were done last year, but now, known insider AestheticGamer – who’s had a particularly good track record with Resident Evil as a whole – is claiming on Twitter that those details are not entirely accurate.

To be more specific, AestheticGamer says in a bunch of recently published tweets (which you can read below) that the leaked info on Resident Evil 8 from earlier today comes from a build of the game that actually got scrapped, before development on the project was rebooted (for context, AestheticGamer also recently claimed that RE8’s development was rebooted a few months ago, and the game is still years away from launch as a result).

AestheticGamer goes on to explain that RE8 was reboot in Summer, and that these play tests were done in August. In fact, allegedly, the very purpose of these play tests may have been so that Capcom could determine which parts of that build of the game to keep going forward, or which to scrap.

AestheticGamer does speculate that it’s possible the scrapped ideas might be moved to a side project, another Resident Evil game- but very firmly says that these leaked details are not the final build of Resident Evil 8, and come from a scrapped build.

In the same round of tweets, they also mention that Resident Evil 8 was originally being directed by what they describe as an “oddball” choice (the person responsible for the weird Jack’s 55th Birthday minigame from Resident Evil 7, and took over as the director of the End of Zoe DLC) and “had some weird ideas for the franchise.”

As always, remember that none of this – nor these newest claims, nor the leaks they are in response to – is information coming from official sources, so don’t treat it as such. Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated on any new info we come across.
