Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Will be “Even Bigger” Than Rebirth, Director Says

"I am absolutely confident that the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series will be one of the most loved, most popular games in the whole history of video games once again," says Naoki Hamaguchi.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched earlier this year, and though it may not have sold to the level that Square Enix had been hoping for, as far as critical acclaim is concerned, the action RPG was a universal hit. Among many other things, its mind-boggling size and scale were points of high praise for many, and according to the people who made it, its sequel is going to surpass even its own lofty ambitions. 

Speaking during a recent live panel that covered the development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, while touching on the final instalment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, director Naoki Hamaguchi expressed his excitement for the game, and stated that it will “expand on” and be “even bigger” than what we’ve already seen from the remake trilogy. 

“When I think about the third and final game in the Remake trilogy, it really does fill me with excitement, and I have such great expectations toward it as well,” he said (via GamesRadar). “I really hope the fans can have great expectations toward this game, and we will meet those expectations. We will definitely expand on and make the world of Final Fantasy 7 even bigger than it is now.”

Hamaguchi went on to add that work is continuing on the trilogy’s final instalment, and that he remains confident it will be another high point for the series- something that he expressed with high superlatives, so say the least.

“The development team is hard at work as we speak, and we’re going to make the game something that even beats any of the expectations that you have towards the game,” Hamaguchi said. “I am absolutely confident that the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series will be one of the most loved, most popular games in the whole history of video games once again.”

Earlier this year, producer Yoshinori Kitase suggested that Square Enix was hoping to wrap up development on the trilogy’s final instalment by 2027. As per its developers, the game will feature even more freedom in combat, a rebuilt world to accommodate airship traversal, and even a revamped and improved version of Queen’s Blood
