With Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed to May 2026 (allegedly to avoid crunch), no one would be more affected than parent company Take-Two Interactive. The latter has taken losses for several quarters while forecasting strong bookings for when the open-world title finally launches.

While this marks a setback to its plans, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company fully supports Rockstar taking more time.

“We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto 6, which promises to be a ground-breaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations.

“While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders.”

While Take-Two expects “record levels” of net bookings in fiscal year 2027, it’s also planning for the same in the current fiscal year. It may sound farfetched, but there are still two major upcoming releases – Mafia: The Old Country in August and Borderlands 4 in September.

The former will receive a new trailer on May 8th, which is also when pre-orders are likely to go live. The latter received numerous details during State of Play, including new weapon manufacturers and the option to replay story missions. As for Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar said it’s looking forward to sharing more information “soon.” Stay tuned in the meantime.
