While MindsEye is slated for release on June 10 across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, some players have seemingly gotten their hands on early copies of the title’s physical release. One such player, X user MrHazel88, has taken to the social media platform to reveal their early copy of the PS5 version of MindsEye, and has said that they will avoid spoilers and only talk about gameplay mechanics and whether the action game is “worth the money.”
In a series of posts, MrHazel88 has said that the state of MindsEye was not impressive at all, and even bringing up comparisons to earlier versions of BioWare’s Mass Effect Andromeda – a title that was plagued with graphical and optimisation problems back when it first came out. The player has also posted about facing quite a few bugs in their time with the game.
In response, developer Build A Rocket Boy has released its own statement, warning players that might happen to get early copies of MindsEye that the game’s day-one update hasn’t yet been released.
“Lenz News notified us that a number of physical copies of MindsEye have surfaced ahead of our June 10th launch,” posted the studio. “While we know you are buzzing with as much excitement as we are at Build A Rocket Boy and IOI Partners, we wanted to share a few important notes.”
While the studio talks about being excited for the game’s upcoming release, as well as all the hard work that has gone into the development of the game, its statement also notes that players that have gotten their hands on early copies should steer clear of spoilers and avoid sharing any footage.
“MindsEye is built around twists and emotional moments – the kind of surprises that are best enjoyed without spoilers, so please do not share any footage prior to launch,” continues the studio’s post.
“We want to highlight that a major update for physical copies will be coming at release, bringing key improvements to ensure MindsEye plays as we intended and to meet all the characters at their best.”
Once the game officially hits store shelves, Build A Rocket Boy has also confirmed that it will start working on post-launch content for the game. The studio revealed its plans to support the game with updates over time with a roadmap, which also includes new game modes and missions.
Studio founder Leslie Benzies has also spoken about ambitious plans for MindsEye, which will ultimately culminate in a “big overarching ten-year plan”. In an interview, Benzies spoke about how there will be quite a bit of content added to the game, and the story of MindsEye will also be expanded on over time.
“Some of the content, like races, are made just for fun,” said Benzies. “But [with] most of the content, we’ll try and incorporate it into the story. So once you’ve played the big overarching ten-year plan, you’ll have a very good idea of what this universe looks like.”
In the meantime, here are our thoughts about the ambitious ten-year plan for MindsEye.
