Following the debut of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance’s first proper trailer, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto appeared on State of Play Japan to reveal some new details. For example, the giant, serpent-like dragon recently revealed is actually a new Elder Dragon named Gundoraja.
Further details weren’t provided, but Tsujimoto did reveal the name of another monster – Arakeeta, which fights in packs and has no trouble coordinating strikes. How you’ll manage against them remains to be seen, but perhaps the new Boost Actions hold the key.
You’ll have a chance to find out for yourself as Capcom will present a hands-on demo at the PlayStation and Capcom booths at Tokyo Game Show 2026 from September 17th to 21st. It’s also confirmed for the Capcom Spotlight showcase on September 16th, providing players a look at some High Rank quest gameplay.
Stay tuned for more details in the coming days. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is due in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The latter has yet to receive a release date, though details on its performance have seemingly been unearthed. In the meantime, check out the latest videos for the Greatsword and Bow, detailing their new Boost Actions and how they can change the flow of battle.
