Let it not be said that Capcom won’t try to make its games available for every platform possible, especially Resident Evil. To that end, the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16th (albeit digital-only).
Released in 2019, Resident Evil 2 Remake essentially kicked off the trend, revamping the 1998 classic with a new over-the-shoulder perspective, story changes, and more. Switch 2 players get the Deluxe Edition, which includes additional outfits, the Samurai Edge – Albert Model weapon, and even the option to swap to the original soundtrack.
Resident Evil 3 Remake, available in 2020, sold very well, though critical opinion is somewhat mixed on the content removed (including Mercenaries) and the changes made. It’s still worth experiencing, especially due to some new Nemesis encounters.
Finally, Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition packages the universally beloved base game with the Separate Ways DLC. The latter reimagines Ada Wong’s side story as a proper story with unique sequences, gameplay mechanics, and even narrative changes.
All of this should make it easier for those who want to experience the series leading up to Resident Evil Veronica’s 2027 launch. Stay tuned for more details, including its release date, in the coming months.
