With its launch set for early next year, Firesprite Studios’ Until Dawn 2 is getting more details. Its official PlayStation page has been updated, reaffirming it’s a PS5 console exclusive, though the first game’s remake is available on PC.
The entire cast has been outlined, and while one character from the original returns (Dr Hill), it notes that this is “a standalone experience featuring a brand new cast, a whole new world to explore and, true to form, a modern horror experience packed with intrigue, emotion, twists and the kind of choices that will keep you up at night.”
The story follows Dead True, a crew of so-called ghost hunters who have been less than honest about their supernatural encounters. When they venture to a remote island for their next project, plenty of real danger awaits. Players will make choices to ensure their safety…probably. In true Until Dawn fashion, everyone can die with “several thrilling endings” to unlock.
PS5 players can expect quite the array of features, from 4K visuals to haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support on the DualSense. Load times appear to be non-existent on the SSD, and most importantly, 3D Audio support enables a truly immersive experience. And despite the original game’s developer, Supermassive Games, implementing co-op in its titles, Until Dawn 2 will remain a single-player-only experience.
Launching on January 28th, 2027, for $50, the narrative horror title also has Dispatch’s AdHoc Studio helping with the narrative.
