Bayonetta 3 “Still Exists” and is “Progressing Well” – Nintendo

Nintendo executives Bill Trinen and Nate Bihldorff provide assurances that PlatinumGames' upcoming action title is coming along well.

Bayonetta 3 has become a bit of a meme at this point. Or more specifically, it’s PlatinumGames’ insistence that the game’s development is going well that’s become a meme. In the absence of any real updates on the game, or even a second of footage from it being released, or with its brief teaser announcement being the only thing we’ve ever seen that’s related to the game- well, with all of that, all we can do is take them at their word when they say that development is going well, time and time and time and time again.

This time, it’s Nintendo that wants to remind you. GameSpot recently interviewed Nintendo of America’s senior product marketing manager Bill Trinen and senior director of localisation Nate Bihldorff, and when asked about Bayonetta 3 and if it still exists, Bihldorff said (via VGC), “It definitely still exists, I can confirm it.”

Meanwhile, Trinen added, “I will even go one further and say not only does it exist, but it’s progressing well. We like to show things whenever we’re ready to show them, and certainly we like to show things when the developer’s ready to show them. So we didn’t have it at E3, but stay tuned.”

Earlier this year, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya suggested that until we actually do hear something about Bayonetta 3 from them, it’s best to just “reset and forget” it even exists. Perhaps that’s very wise advice.

Then again, Kamiya also said earlier this year that PlatinumGames hopes to share updates on Bayonetta 3 in 2021, and half the year’s still left, so maybe we’ll hear something about it not too long from now. Fingers crossed, I guess.
