Yesterday, the Season of Opulence went live for all Destiny 2 Annual Pass holders. It was an opportunity to partake in the race for World’s First in the new Crown of Sorrow raid. However, the new update was also datamined on PC to reveal what could be Bungie’s announcement tomorrow: A Year 3 expansion called Shadowkeep.
It will players returning to the Moon to battle a shadowy new threat and become a “slayer of nightmares”. However, it seems that cross-save will also be coming as a feature. This was unearthed through datamining the same update by Ginsor on Twitter.
Cross-save, along with cross-platform play, has been one of the more requested features for Destiny players over the years. At the very least, this may allow Xbox One and PS4 players to migrate to PC, even if data won’t necessarily move between the two consoles. It could also potentially set up Destiny 2 for release on next generation of consoles.
As always, time will tell. Bungie will be revealing the “next chapter” for Destiny 2 tomorrow at 10 AM PST. Stay tuned for more details (and potential leaks) in the meantime.
