Destiny 2 Lightfall - Strand_02

Destiny 2’s next big expansion, Lightfall, looms ever closer. Bungie has released tons of information till now, from various Aspects and Fragments for Strand to vaulted content. However, there’s also what comes after Lightfall for the rest of Year 6.

Game director Joe Blackburn on Twitter teased a 5300-word article on “Lightfall and the Year Ahead,” which could be a preview of what to expect in Season 20 and beyond. Lightfall’s raid goes live on March 10th, but the article may also discuss changes coming to the seasonal model, especially since Blackburn acknowledged feedback on previous seasons back in December.

Of course, while the team is “excited to put some more creative risk in seasonal progressions,” it will be “some time before the feedback catches up with the dev cycle.” Season 21 was noted to be at the “halfway mark” but will “differentiate progression” and have a “more novel activity setup.” Based on leaks, it appears that Guardian Games are returning, but whether they’ll function the same way is unknown.

Stay tuned for more details on Bungie’s plans for the future later today. Destiny 2: Lightfall launches on February 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox One. Season 20 launches on the same day.
