The anticipation for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been through the roof for a while now, but the wait is now over. The second instalment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is available now on PlayStation 5, and Square Enix has released a launch trailer to commemorate the occasion. You can view it below, though do keep in mind that if you’re looking to avoid spoilers, it might be best to skip this trailer.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth expands on its predecessor’s formula in a number of ways. On top of offering a massive, open world setting, it touts combat improvements (like the new Synergy Abilities), a multitude of minigames, a soundtrack comprising of over 400 pieces, and much more.

The action RPG has received universal acclaim from critics leading up to its release, and currently ranks as one of the best-reviewed Final Fantasy games of all time. According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, achieving a Metacritic score of over 90 was one of the development team’s main goals.

In our own review of the game, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the best Final Fantasy games of all time. It’s nothing short of a spectacle, an epic journey full of bombastic action, heartfelt emotion, and unforgettable moments- a celebration both of itself and the legendary game it is based on, one that brazenly and loudly demands your attention, and actually manages to hold on to it, because all of its flash is backed by just as much substance. From storytelling to world design, from exploration to combat, from visuals to music, from the amount of content it offers to how much meaningful variety that content exhibits, in nearly every way that matters, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth surpasses expectations.” Read the full review through here.

Work on the final instalment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is already underway.
