Forza Horizon 5 Debuts at No. 4 in Weekly UK Retail Charts

Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Shin Megami Tensei 5 also see debuts in the top 10, while Call of Duty: Vanguard retains the top spot.

The latest weekly data for boxed video game sales in the UK is in (via GamesIndustry), and there’s been some interesting activity in the charts, thanks to a number of new releases for major games. The biggest new release, of course, was Forza Horizon 5which debuted in fourth place. While its boxed launch sales are down 80% from what Forza Horizon 4 managed, it’s worth remembering that the game is available via Xbox Game Pass as well, while these charts don’t account for digital sales either. Microsoft has confirmed that Forza Horizon 5, which has already surpassed 8 million players, is the biggest launch ever for an Xbox Game Studios title

Jurassic World Evolution 2which launched on the same day as the open world Xbox racer, debuts in sixth place. Its physical launch sales are down 37% from its predecessor’s. 34% of its sales came on the PS5, and 33% on the PS4 and Xbox each. Then there’s Shin Megami Tensei 5coming in at No. 9, which has had a surprisingly solid debut for a niche franchise, and a niche genre in the UK. At launch, it has outsold several other major JRPGs of 2021 at retail, with launch boxed sales being 60% higher than Bravely Default 2, 43% higher than Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, and 23% higher than Tales of Arise

Football Manager 2022 was another new release last week, and though it didn’t break into the top 10, it did debut at No. 12. For a series that typically sees the vast majority of its sales digitally via Steam, that’s a solid accomplishment. Its launch physical sales are down 25% from last year’s entry.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is still in first place, where it debuted last week, and though its 47% drop in sales from last week makes for a good second week for the shooter, it has been performing markedly lower than previous entries. Reportedly, it is Call of Duty’s worst ever launch in the UK in 14 years. Meanwhile, thanks to the launch of its Happy Home Paradise expansion, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has seen a sizeable 99% boost in sales from last week, jumping up to No. 3.
