Forza Horizon 6’s Map is Playground Games’ “Biggest Yet” and “Also Our Most Full”

"I think this map that we've created for Japan, or Horizon's version of Japan, is big, but also dense," says art director Don Arceta.

Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 6 was announced during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast, and confirmed the series is finally heading to Japan. While it hasn’t gone into too much detail about the locations (aside from Tokyo and Mt Fuji’s surrounding environment), art director Don Arceta told GamesRadar that the map would be “our biggest map yet.”

Considering Forza Horizon 5 was already significantly bigger than Forza Horizon 4, the mind boggles at how much larger Playground’s take on Japan could be. However, Arceta notes that it’s also the studio’s “most full” and that there’s “always something around the corner for you to discover.”

“Like, obviously, we can’t go bigger without filling it with things to do and see. And I think this map that we’ve created for Japan, or Horizon’s version of Japan, is big, but also dense. There’s always something around the corner for you to discover and see. But yeah, it’s bigger. I won’t put a number on it. It is bigger,” he said.

Forza Horizon 6 launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Turn 10 Studios is working with Playground on a PS5 version, but this will launch after other platforms (with a release date TBA). While it will feature a “broad range” of cars like previous entries, fans can expect the studio to delve into the country’s “unique car culture.” Seasons also make a return and will have a “dramatic impact” on the world.
