During Xbox’s Gamescom stream, Playground Games showcased some of the new things coming to open-world racing game Forza Horizon 6. Among these is a brand-new feature – the Drift Attack game mode. The mode revolves around getting the highest drift score in a lap, and then trying to beat that score in subsequent laps.
To start the Drift Attack mode, players simply have to drive into the appropriate drift zone. The track also gets covered with special blue zones that not only encourage the best driving lines for drifts, but also offer a multiplier to the drift score. The campaign as a whole has been expanded to incorporate Drift Attack, so players will also be able to progress up the ranks by taking part in the new game mode.
The game mode will be free for all Forza Horizon 6 players. There are also additions to the Collection Journal that encourage players to partake in Drift Attack events. These new entries also reward players for trying the game mode with a variety of cars across categories like muscle cars, sports cars, and RWD cars.
The update will be accompanied by the addition of a new Forza Edition version of the Jaguar XJ-S, which will be unlockable once players complete a certain number of Drift Attack Collection Journal entries. The car has been designed and tuned specifically for the new game mode.
Forza Horizon 6 is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S, and a PS5 version is planned for later this year. For more details, take a look at our review.
