As the days go by and we inch closer to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s all the more real. Of course, only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players will get their hands on it (which won’t stop it from becoming one of the biggest launches in history). PC players will have to wait their turn, but what about Nintendo Switch 2 owners?
Insider NateTheHate claimed last year that the developer tested if it was possible, though this doesn’t mean a port is happening. And if you’re hoping Nintendo could provide some clarity, well, think again. Asked by Variety whether the Switch 2 was enough to accommodate the open-world title, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard responded, “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”
Of course, Rockstar hasn’t said anything. On the other hand, former designer Jérémy Hartvick, who worked on GTA 6 until 2020, didn’t think it made sense to port the game, since he wasn’t sure its audience is “so much the audience for the Switch.”
You know the drill though: Never say never. “We’re just at the beginning of seeing what Nintendo Switch 2 can do,” said Devon. For now, the company is working to cater to all audiences. Whether that will include one of the biggest games of all time remains to be seen.
In the meantime, Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th. Check out three new screenshots and learn more about the six new radio stations (including those hosted by Bad Bunny and Lana Del Rey).
