Arrowhead Game Studios’ latest patch for Helldivers 2 went live with some hefty changes, like increasing the level cap to 150, balancing several weapons and even adding blizzards and sandstorms. However, it also brought some undocumented new enemies, specifically to the Automaton faction.

The first is an AT-AT-style heavy walker, dubbed the Factory Strider. Armed with laser turrets and capable of creating Devastators, it moves slowly but wreaks heavy destruction. Heavy armor is everywhere, and there don’t appear to be easily accessible vents for destroying it.

The second is Automaton gunships, described by one Reddit user as “heavily armored flying rocket Devastators with a regular Devastator strapped to the other side. They fire salvos of missiles and rapid-fire lasers otherwise.” The new LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and EAT-17 can take them down in one shot when aiming at their engines, but Factories can allegedly send out three at a time and require Hellbombs to destroy.

Whichever way you slice it, the new enemies are a force to reckon with, making the Automaton planets much more harrowing. One has to wonder how things will fare when the Illuminate, datamined and hinted at in recent missions, appears.

Helldivers 2 is out now on PS5 and PC. Check out our review here.
