What’s going on in Resident Evil Village? Why is Chris Redfield now seemingly the bad guy? Also, werewolves? There’s quite a lot to unravel in Capcom’s next big survival horror but the development team is acutely aware of how the 3D audio will contribute to the atmosphere. Executive producer Jun Takeuchi feels it was designed “specifically with horror games in mind” and while not providing abject details on how it’s being used, he does highlight an important benefit – its cost-effectiveness. “It used to be that in order to get that spatial audio, players would have to invest a lot of their own time and money. Now, just putting on a headset, they can get a full 3D audio experience,” said Takeuchi.
