We’ve been waiting for Psychonauts 2 for a long time. The sequel to the beloved cult classic platformer was announced against all odds back in 2015, but since then, the game has been delayed time and time and time again. As it stands right now, it’s scheduled for a 2021 launch, but even so, it’s been a while since we last saw much from the game or saw any significant updates for it or how its development is going.
Don’t worry though- it’s still planned for 2021. Taking to Twitter, developer Double Fine provided assurances that Psychonauts 2 is still due out some time this year, but when exactly is launches is something the developer isn’t ready to share just yet. Even so, the studio assured once again that the long-awaited platformer is “real”, is “playable”, and is “coming”. Take from that what you will.
Earlier this year, Double Fine studio head Tim Schafer said that Psychonauts 2 was nearing the end of its development, with the studio in the process of applying final polish and balance to the project.
Whenever it launches, Psychonauts 2 will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
And yes, Psychonauts 2 is this year and yes I've been mentioning that here and elsewhere for a while but no I can't tell you when because someone from THE COMPANY would arrange for a mysterious "cactus accident" to happen to me…
But it is real. It is playable. It is coming.
