Sebastian Kalemba, who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 as its lead animator, is now directing the next Witcher saga. In a new tweet, Kalemba said, “Since joining CD Projekt Red, I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for.”
Kalemba would become head of animation for CD Projekt RED and even worked as creative director before directing the new saga. Oddly enough, Jason Slama, who also worked on The Witcher 3 and Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, was announced as the director back in March. He promised there would be no crunch on his watch, something the development studio became infamous for before Cyberpunk 2077’s release.
It’s unknown whether Slama has stepped down or is only in charge of the first game in the new trilogy while Kalemba oversees all three. Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details.
The next Witcher title is codenamed Project Polaris and has over 150 developers working on it. Once it launches, the next two titles in the trilogy will arrive within six years. A remake of The Witcher, formerly Project Canis Majoris, is also in development on Unreal Engine 5.
Career news: I’m directing the new Witcher Saga. Since joining @CDPROJEKTRED I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for. I’m proud to be part of CDPR and work with such a talented and passionate team.
