15. Hades
By their nature, roguelite games encourage multiple tries. Accepting death becomes necessary to thrive. Supergiant Games takes this formula, adds an incredible art-style and music, and delivers compelling hack and slash combat in Hades. However, it’s the story that really sets it apart from other games. Each run feels unique thanks to the unique Boons and weapon upgrades, yet it’s the mountains of unique dialogue for every character that evolve overtime which really makes the game come alive. Escaping isn’t even the end as much as the beginning of a brand new story, and things only get better from there.
