10. Resident Evil 2 (2019)
Remaking a classic isn’t easy and the +3 year development cycle of Resident Evil 2 is a testament to the same. However, it also proved that remaking a game isn’t just about incredible graphics and presentation – it’s also about retaining that same atmosphere; knowing what to omit, alter and add in terms of gameplay; and ultimately, how to polish it all and deliver a fun experience. Not only did Resident Evil 2 masterfully achieve all of this but it also gave us Mr. X in an expanded role. It’s truly a case of going above and beyond expectations.
