The Kojima-Konami split following the controversial Metal Gear Solid 5 was an event that shook the entire industry, and Konami’s treatment of the legend following that split was something that drew the ire of millions. From them removing his name from the game’s marketing materials to Kojima not being allowed at attend The Game Awards to accept his award, dislike (to put it politely) for Konami in the masses continued to grow.
