Action roguelite Dead Cells received a new free update today with “Break the Bank”, continuing the post-launch support that’s followed since its August 2018 release. Motion Twin has been fairly upfront about the cadence of its updates and how purchasing paid DLC helps to support the studio.

In the release announcement for its latest update, the developer briefly discussed its “future plans.” It confirmed that there would be more DLC and free updates for “at least another year.” Some of the content also has the team “very, very excited” but we’ll have to wait for more details. Motion Twin also has a new project in the works though it may be a while until it’s official revealed.

Dead Cells currently has three paid DLC – The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls and The Queen and the Sea – which are considered as part of a concluded trilogy. New content added over free over the past several years includes new biomes, weapons and enemies; several changes and rebalances to systems like Malaise; features like the Backpack, Aspects, the Training Room, and a World Map; and much more, including a crossover with several other franchises. What could be coming next? Stay tuned for further updates in the coming months.
