Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster’s Lackluster Announcement
When Square Enix unveiled Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, there was celebration – the classic adventure was being remade in a style that fit its old-school pixel-art thanks to utilizing the Octopath Traveler engine. The announcement of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, which contains remasters for Final Fantasy 1 to 6, could have replicated that same feeling of joy. And while its reveal wasn’t outright bungled, it also didn’t have much of anything to speak off.
The remasters were simply announced, confirmed to be bundled together and sold separately, and then we moved on. No release window or even confirmation as to whether it would get the HD-2D treatment. It also didn’t help that only PC and mobiles were confirmed as the main platforms, which may not have been a big deal in retrospect but there was hardly anything else to latch on to.
