Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially 16 days away, and the hype is palpable. While it still feels like an eternity, players now have more time to prepare because digital pre-loading starts November 10th at midnight local time on PS5 and 12 AM GMT on Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-loading was previously slated for November 12th, which is now when retailers will have “code-in-box” versions (and shifting away from referring to them as “physical” versions). But the biggest shock is that you’ll need 212 GB of free space to pre-load. While this doesn’t likely reflect the final size, especially if a sizable day-one update goes live, it’s still easily Rockstar’s biggest game yet.
Of course, that also applies to everything else, from the landmass nearly equivalent to the playable spaces of Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined to “hundreds” of interiors to explore. Even if you stick to the story, it’s still about 80 hours to complete, making it the longest narrative in Rockstar’s history.
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and that’s only the start of its journey, potentially in more ways than one. The PC version is reportedly launching in Q1 2027, and though Rockstar will continue supporting GTA Online, some online component is likely coming at some point.
