With Horizon Forbidden West in 2022 and the much more recent releases of Horizon Call of the Mountain and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, Guerrilla and Sony’s post-apocalyptic franchise has seen plenty of activity of late, and that, as you one might expect, has gone hand-in-hand with accelerated sales for the series.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla has revealed that as of April 16, 2023, Horizon Forbidden West has sold over 8.4 million units worldwide since its launch last February, with the Horizon series’ total sales currently standing at 32.7 million units. In addition to this, the developer says the series has also seen “millions” more players through PlayStation’s subscription services and initiatives, including PlayStation Plus and Play at Home.
Guerrilla hasn’t mentioned specifically what the current sales figures for Horizon Zero Dawn and PS VR2 exclusive Call of the Mountain are. At last count, as of February last year, the former had sold over 20 million units.
Unsurprisingly, Guerrilla has plenty else in the pipeline where future Horizon titles are concerned. The developer has confirmed that not only is it working on sequel to Horizon Forbidden West, but also a standalone co-op Horizon title. Meanwhile, leaks have claimed that an enhanced PS5 remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works, though allegedly, that isn’t being developed internally by Guerrilla.
A Horizon TV series is also currently in development at Netflix.
