Resident Evil is enjoying the best spell of its life, and has been consistently seeing critical and commercial success over the last few years. Recently, Capcom provided updated sales figures as of December 31 for a number of games on its Platinum Titles page, and it seems Resident Evil is continuing to forge on.
In total, sales of the Resident Evil series currently stand at 123 million units worldwide, and pretty much every major new release for the franchise over the last few years is continuing to exhibit long legs. Resident Evil 7 is sitting at 10.6 million units sold, having sold over 400,000 additional units during the previous quarter. Meanwhile, 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake is not far behind at over 9.3 million units sold worldwide, which is also 400,000 units up from its sales at the end of the previous quarter.
Then there’s 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake, which sold an additional 300,000 units during the quarter and currently stands at over 4.9 million units sold. Resident Evil Village, meanwhile, stands at 5.7 million sales, as Capcom announced last week.
