A recent SteamDB listing for Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection claims to modernize the classic along with all of its episodes.
Valve also insists that the open nature of the platform and OS should encourage other manufacturers to make their own similar products.
Valve designer Pierre-Loup Griffais says that the 30 FPS target for the Steam Deck is "the floor" of what they will consider acceptable in games.
"If you're a gamer, and you pick up a Switch, and you pick up one of these, you're going to know which one is right for you," says Gabe Newell.
"We haven't really found something we could throw at this device that it couldn't handle," says Valve's Pierre-Loup Griffais.
