After Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto 6’s pre-loading date and demanded a whopping 212 GB of free space, PlayStation Blog offered an extensive guide for the whole process (starting with, believe it or not, buying the game). It’s fairly straightforward, but the closing sentence is what’s interesting.
“We’ll have more information on Grand Theft Auto 6 as we get closer to November 19.”
It’s no secret that PlayStation and Rockstar have a close partnership for the title. The Extended Look on Netflix was captured entirely on PlayStation 5, and it even received two special DualSense controllers, available on the same day for $84.99. So the question is: What could PlayStation possibly announce next?
For our money, it’s likely the resolution and performance on PlayStation 5 Pro. It’s already confirmed as “Enhanced” for the platform, and retailer listings claim it offers “improved performance, more stable frame rates (FPS), and even sharper resolutions.”
Rockstar hasn’t delved deeply into Grand Theft Auto 6’s technical specifications, but reports allege it wouldn’t support 60 frames per second on base consoles at launch. For all we know, it could finally lay out the frame rates and resolutions on all consoles, with PlayStation exclusively revealing how the open-world behemoth leverages the PS5 Pro.
Until then, Grand Theft Auto 6 is on track to launch in less than three weeks. By Rockstar’s measure, development was akin to building a “pyramid on Everest.” Head here for more details. You can also learn more about NPCs having different personality traits, which can wildly change your interactions with them compared to previous games.
