Slower updates for Helldivers 2 will benefit players and developers, according to the game's community manager.
Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt is stepping down as Arrowhead's CEO in order to be able to focus more on the creative side of the business.
The developer was too busy with the controversy surrounding Helldivers 2 needing PSN account linking to notice these problems earlier.
The minor patch doesn't add anything new to the game, but helps with stability and brings other miscellaneous fixes for known issues.
Sony attributes the increase to the success of Helldivers 2, third-party free-to-play titles and the PS5's growing popularity.
Arrowhead's co-op shooter has surpassed God of War Ragnarok's record to become the fastest-selling PlayStation-published title.
"It feels like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is removed," admits Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt.
Helldivers 2 creative director Johann Pilstedt took to X to ask players if the studio should delay Polar Patriots to a later date.
The latest update to Helldivers 2 focuses largely on fixes for minor bugs and crashes.
Sony has since walked back its stance on account-linking for Steam players, but the whole fiasco raises questions for the future.
"We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable," Sony says.

The co-op shooter is no longer available for sale on the platform in countries where PlayStation Network isn't available.
Though Steam refunds aren't allowed for games where players have over two hours of play time, the platform is issuing refunds even to players with over 200 hours in Helldivers 2.
"I hope we will make it up and regain the trust by providing a continued great game experience," says Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt.
Account linking requirements were lifted due to technical issues upon the game's release, but Sony says they're soon going to be implemented again.
